JetLite: Contribution To The Flying Scene In India
The commercial aviation industry in India had only just begun making inroads into the business of low fare flying when a few airlines entered the scene and forever changed the way the airline industry functioned, and JetLite happened to be one of the most influential players among the lot. Initially with the Sahara family, the name JetLite was given to the airline when Jet Airways took over the airline from the Sahara group.
The aviation industry in India was facing a major revolution when JetLite entered the Indian airspace the Indian people were just beginning to enjoy the joys of flying. Before this phase, flying was a luxury that very few could afford and the airlines in the country were limited too. Except for the national flag carrier and government initiatives there were other airlines that could be seen as enterprises for the public. JetLite was one of those airlines therefore which represented a new wave of flying in the Indian subcontinent.
With the entry of the airline and a few others, the flying scene in India completely received a makeover. The air fares were suddenly within the reach of many and even the common public could now afford to make their travel plans and have a flight involved in the itinerary. JetLite, now though merged with JetKonnect, will always remain etched in the aviation history books as one of those airlines which changed the face of commercial flying in India for the better.
